Your media library is now accessible from any device
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – HASSELT, Belgium: August 31, 2016: Today mimik and Zappware announced a strategic partnership in which mimik’s award-winning micro-cloud solution will be offered through Zappware’s technology platform. The partnership will enable operators and STB manufacturers to deliver innovative services around discovery, connection and communication between devices — mobiles, tablets, laptops etc. regardless of their operating system.
In addition to the award-winning Zappware user interface, the joint solution provides advanced network functionality enabling users to effortlessly and securely connect all their devices and access their entire media libraries—videos, photos, music—from any connected device. Content can reside on any of the devices and will still be accessible through any other connected device such as the STB.
“We are delighted to partner with Zappware to converge the worlds of TV, internet and mobile by addressing the fragmentation in operating systems and networks and enhance the media experience for millions of potential customers and viewers. mimik-enabled STBs and TVs will automatically discover devices and connect them seamlessly to the TV and to one another, initially focusing on media services and eventually extending to IoT and Smart Home applications.” said Siavash Alamouti, President & CEO of mimik technology.
“End-users have been struggling to seamlessly access and share their media library across devices, specifically towards the TV screen. The integration of the mimik software solution makes it easy and truly seamless, without the need of any extra hardware (e.g. dongle, …) and is very Telecom Operator-friendly in that sense. We captured very good feedback from end-users and Service Providers so far. What seems to be very appealing are the both in the home as well as out of home use cases. We anticipate Quadplay service providers to embrace these use cases.” said Patrick Vos–CEO of Zappware N.V.
Entertainment service providers and visitors will be able to discover this innovative solution during live demonstrations at the IBC show in Zappware’s booth located at Hall 1 booth 1.A.81 on September 9-13, 2016 in Amsterdam.
mimik has pioneered a distributed micro-cloud technology that enables devices to create clusters by physically discovering and establishing peer to peer connection between one another. The technology allows discovering micro-services running on any cluster and enabling micro-service level communication. This unique capability enables ad-hoc and real-time formation of mesh networks across different devices, OS, and networks. mimik offers its platform to third-party developers via SDKs and APIs to enrich the experience for consumer, connected home, automotive, health and other vertical applications. Available in the App Store and Google Play Store, the company launched its award winning first consumer branded applications using and extending its SDK and APIs called “mimik access”. This app makes it easy to instantly access and share digital content across incompatible devices and platforms and demonstrating the power of mimik’s patented, transformative edge-based micro-cloud technology.
