90% cost savings, 10x increase in profitability
Health and wellness industry is undergoing a digital revolution. However, there is a long way to go for meaningful digital transformation. Progress is slowed down by legacy systems constraints, data privacy issues, and incompatible platforms. It is estimated that by 2020, spending on digital transformation in health and wellness will reach $102 billion.
Thankfully both care providers and patients own billions of potential edge servers that can be used differently to enable new applications and solutions to seamlessly provide real-time patient history, biometric, and genomic data across incompatible platforms, systems, and medical devices.
H2 Wellness integrated some components of the mimik platform into its latest client development project for ProLon®, the fasting mimicking 5-day program that nourishes the body while promoting regenerative and rejuvenating changes, including effects on a wide range of markers that contribute to aging, such as cholesterol, inflammation, and fasting glucose. As part of the integration, mimik also helped to migrate its applications from H2’s private cloud to AWS public Cloud and provided training and support for cloud migration and establishing modern DevOps processes.
Using mimik edgeCloud Engine combined with AWS services, H2 Wellness has deployed shadow microservices at the edge to offload many backend operations from central cloud to the edge. As a result, only essential data is communicated to the public cloud on AWS and the rest is processed and communicated at the edge. Thanks to mimik’s edgeCloud platform, H2 provides dynamic questionnaires and interactive feeds through a combination of multi-user cloud microservices and single-user local shadow microservices, which reduces network and hosting and costs and improves latency, privacy, and user experience.
